GOLDEN GATE
1852 GOLD RUSH SALOON
This work centers on the transformation of the historic Golden Gate Saloon at the Holbrooke Hotel, where reopened arches, restored lighting, and custom millwork create a unified bar space rooted in history and reoriented for the present.
‘This building has been made from canvas, wood, soil, and stone, burned to the ground, rebuilt, renamed, and gussied up for innumerable guests. It’s seen gambling, gunfights, good times and bad. Fortunes made and pure gold lost. Haunted by rough cowboys and Victorian madams, their secrets forever safe within the storied walls. Legend tells us even prohibition didn’t stop the whiskey from being served in the saloon."
"balancing the saloon’s historic character with a renewed sense of clarity and flow."
"a space that honors its long social history while operating comfortably in the present."
